More than 4,000 food, toiletries and household items delivered in final days before holiday.

The week before Christmas was the busiest week of the year at the Food Hub. In total on Wednesday 17th and Saturday 20th December our teams provided food for 160 people at more 50 addresses across Purley, Coulsdon, South Croydon and Waddon.

The food was the equivalent of over 1,400 meals – although in fact it was a lot more than this because many of the clients received increased food bags to cover the 24th/27th, when we were closed.

In addition, 226 clients received Aldi gift cards as part of our ‘Come Dine With Jesus’ scheme.

At the two sessions on the 17th and 20th combined we gave out more than 4,000 items of food, toiletries and household essentials. And that’s not counting all the donated Christmas biscuits, mince pies, chocolate treats and other festive fare they also received!

The 4,000+ items included 95 breakfast cereal, 238 milk, 236 tinned plain meat & ready meat meals, 320 potatoes & vegetables, 176 fish, 311 fruit & custard, 61 tea, coffee & hot chocolate and 6 baby formula milk along with 144 toothbrushes & toothpaste.

We also supplied 189 toilet rolls, 171 washing powder, 51 cat & dog food and 4 tin openers.

The rest of December was equally busy, with food parcels provided for 46, 59 and 45 people on the three other Wednesdays, and for 84 and 83 people on the two other Saturdays.

Overall during the month we provided food for 477 people, equal to 4,293 meals, taking the total meals provided in 2025 to 38,735. As always, a massive thank you goes to all our many donors, supporters and volunteers who helped make such a vital difference to local families in need.
