Big thanks to the many unsung heroes who work quietly behind the scenes.
A special thank you this month to our dedicated team of volunteers, such as those who turn up week by week on a Monday morning to sort and date-label every tin, packet, jar and bottle that is donated.
They also refill our shelves ready for the packing and delivery of the clients’ food parcels on Wednesdays and Saturdays.
The Food Hub is blessed with more than 100 volunteers who fulfil a variety of roles. “Of these we have an average of around 15 volunteers who come in each Monday,” says Louise Willmer, our Stock Controller and Acting Chair of the Management Committee. “They carry out an essential part of the work of the Food Hub to ensure our clients receive food that is always in date and in good condition.”
We have also a team of 26 drivers and 10 escorts who deliver food parcels to clients in Purley, Coulsdon, South Croydon and Waddon, plus a large team of volunteers who cover the twice-weekly sessions to pack and despatch the food parcels.
We are so grateful to all our volunteers, each and every one!
