Meat meals, tinned carrots and sweetcorn, and cartons of long life milk also in short supply.

Tin openers head the list of items we most need for our Food Hub clients in April. Many cans today have easy-to-open ring pulls, but there are still a lot that don’t… and we have just given a family the last of the tin openers we had in stock.

Therefore we will be most grateful for donations of tin openers – although not, please, the butterfly type which our clients unfortunately find can too easily snap.

Also on our most needed list for April are meat meals (although not hot dogs and meatballs), tinned carrots and sweetcorn, and cartons of long life full fat milk. Jars of peanut butter and meat & fish paste are also listed, along with tins of dessert fruit and rice pudding.

Also this month, there are four non-food items we especially need: small bottles of shampoo, bars of soap, sanitary pads, and laundry washing capsules.

Click here to view April’s full list. If you would like to have the list, along with our monthly newsletter, sent directly to your inbox at the beginning of each month, please email steve.purleyfoodhub@gmail.com.

We are open to receive donations at Purley United Reformed Church (next to Purley Hospital) from 9.00am – 12.00noon on Wednesday, Saturday and Monday mornings (except Easter Monday 21st April). Or if it’s more convenient, you can take donations to any of our local in-store and roadside collection points listed here.

Thanks to everyone’s continuing generous support, you have enabled us to provide food for 385,000 meals for over 42,500 people since we opened in 2013. THANK YOU ALL!
