Busy month expected as honey, tinned fruit and tomatoes top our ‘most needed’ list.
A year ago August was our busiest month of 2024, with food for 4,230 meals provided for 470 clients and family members at the height of the school summer holidays. With this summer’s school holidays now here, we are again expecting another busy August.
We thank everyone who responded to July’s appeal specially geared towards families likely to face problems feeding their children and themselves over the next few weeks and so needing help from the Food Hub.
August’s most wanted list is headed by jars of honey, tins of dessert fruit and tinned tomatoes. Tinned peas and tinned carrots are also listed together with tinned/packet custard, vegetarian meals and packets of sweet biscuits. And to put a smile on children’s faces, chocolate treats are also requested please!
Toilet rolls top the four non-food items needed along with sanitary pads, unisex deodorant and small washing up liquid.

Donations can be brought to us at Purley United Reformed Church (next to Purley Hospital) on Saturday, Wednesday and Monday mornings from 9.00am – 12.00midday (except bank holiday Monday 25th August). Or donations can be taken to one of our local in-store and roadside collection points listed here.
We thank everyone for your continued kind generosity. Over the past 12 years you have enabled us to provide food for clients and their families equivalent to 400,000 meals for over 44,000 people.
