Ring in the new! It’s 2026 and time to update our Home page… with heroes in mind.
Each new year we like to give the Food Hub website a facelift, so we update our home page with a fresh new look. In web designer lingo, that means a bright new hero.
For geeks and techies, the ‘hero’ is the first thing people notice when they visit a website, its most prominent feature. Typically it’s a big headline or large eye-catching picture.
In our case it’s a mini-gallery of photos at the top of the Home page, featuring some of the many volunteers, donors, supporters and friends who made such a vital contribution to our work in the course of the previous year. These are the folks behind our ‘hero’ image for 2026. Heroes one and all!

4 The team at David Lloyd Club off Purley Way, led by General Manager Rachel and Assistant General Manager Oli, installed donation baskets on 18th October and helped our volunteer drivers with deliveries in November. The club also included our food list in their newsletter to nearly 7,800 members.
5 Food Hub Chair Trevor and Admin Support volunteer Steve joined more than 700 people from food banks and community food organisations across the UK for a mass lobby of MPs in Westminster on 18th June. The day was part of the Guarantee Our Essentials poverty campaign organised by Trussell, the Joseph Rowntree Foundation, the Independent Food Aid Network (IFAN) and others.
6 On 18th October our drivers and escorts included regular driver Chunhua and daughter Grace plus four of Chunhua’s work colleagues.
The team from energy sector support company DN – Daniel, Ankor, Hien and Aseem – are pictured here with session volunteers Ian, Sarah, Jess, Andrea, Zahra, Bridget and Rachael.
7 Still buzzing from winning £1,000 for the Food Hub in a charity social action competition, boys from Form 9M at The John Fisher School, Purley, visited the Food Hub in May to find out more about how we operate, bringing with them a fresh donation of several trays of food.
8 Cumnor House School for Girls was one of 24 schools and nurseries which donated Harvest food collections during October. Amelia, Alyssa and Kezia are shown delivering their donations on 13th October.
