Tinned fish, packet soup, tinned meat meals and baked beans most needed this month.

A big thank-you to our Food Hub supporters for kindly bearing with us while we are currently closed for three weeks because of essential repair work at Purley United Reformed Church.

Thank you if you managed to drop off donations to us at the church on Monday 18th August or can do so on Monday 1st September, or if you have kindly held on to them to bring when we will be fully open again from Monday 8th September – that’s every Monday, Wednesday and Saturday morning from 9.00am – 12.00midday at the church next to Purley Hospital.

And now, as we start our autumn stock build-up in readiness for another busy Christmas and winter, the food items we need most in September are headed by tinned fish, packet soup containing several sachets, tinned meat meals and tins of baked beans.

Packets of savoury biscuits and 500g packets of pasta are also on September’s list, together with small bottles of fruit squash and packets of custard requiring only hot water. Two non-food items specially needed are bottles of unisex shampoo and small bottles of washing up liquid.

If you prefer not to have to bring donations into busy Purley town centre, you can always take them instead to one of our local in-store and roadside collection points listed here.

Thank you everyone for your continued generous support over the past 12½ years when you have enabled us to provide food for over 44,000 people – equivalent to 400,000 meals.
