Young triathletes target £500 sponsorship for the Food Hub – and raise nearly £2,000!

Twenty-five young triathletes, aged four to 13, swam, cycled and ran their way to raise almost £2,000 for the Food Hub on Easter Saturday.

The event was organised by nine-year-old Shayan after his solo triathlon last year; this time he invited family and friends to join him.

The children were in three teams, with each team swimming a total of 1.5km, cycling 40km and running 10km. The swimming was at Caterham School and the cycling and running at Kenley Aerodrome.

Shayan said afterwards: “Everyone did amazingly well and we had a fun and tiring day in the sunshine.

“Our target was £500 – but in the end we raised a tremendous £1,955. I want to thank all the people who took part, everyone who helped make the triathlon happen and everyone who sponsored us.”

Dad Ravi added: “We had an amazing day. The kids were really up for the challenge and had smiles on their faces throughout the day. The weather was fantastic and we’re so happy that we’ve been able to raise money for such a fab cause.”
