Honey, meat and fish paste, tea bags and drinking chocolate most needed in February.

A very warm thank-you to everyone who kindly donated food, toiletries and household essentials from our most-wanted list for January. As a result, we managed to replenish our stocks after another very busy December.

In addition, we were able to support our two Food Stop partners at Old Lodge Lane Baptist Church, Purley, and St Francis Church, Monks Hill, Selsdon – with a full carload of donations for Old Lodge Lane one week, and another for St Francis the next.

So the Food Stops very much join us in thanking all of our donors and supporters for every much-needed tin, jar, packet and pound we received in January.

For February, we are again requesting more of the everyday items we include in the regular food parcels to deliver to our clients and their families. Topping the list are jars of honey and meat and fish paste, boxes/packets of tea bags, drinking chocolate needing only hot water and, once more, cartons of long life full fat milk.

Tinned meat meals (but not hot dogs!), tins of corned beef and vegetarian meals are also listed, along with tinned tomatoes. And there’s just the one non-food item requested this month please: small bottles/bars of shampoo.

Click here to view February’s full list. To have the list sent directly to you at the beginning of each month, please email steve.purleyfoodhub@gmail.com.

We are open to receive donations at Purley United Reformed Church (next to Purley Hospital) on Monday, Wednesday and Saturday mornings from 9.00am – 12.00noon. Or as well, if this is more convenient, you can take donations to any of our local in-store and roadside collection points listed here.

Since the Food Hub opened in 2013 you have enabled us to provide food for 380,000 meals for 42,000 people.

THANK YOU ALL SO MUCH – WE COULD NOT POSSIBLY DO THIS WITHOUT YOUR ONGOING GENEROUS SUPPORT.
