Great response to our appeal for long life whole milk – and it’s still on our list for August.

food list aug 2024

With the school summer holidays now here, we thank everyone who responded to July’s appeal for food specifically geared towards families likely to face problems feeding themselves and their children over these next few weeks and thus need to rely on the Food Hub.

In particular we received much-needed donations of long life whole (full fat) milk which had once again headed our Top 10 list of priority items.

Milk very much continues to be requested in August but ahead of it in this month’s most-wanted list are small bottles of squash/cartons of long life juice, small (500g) packets of sugar and tins of tomatoes.

Packets of custard, medium-sized breakfast cereal and tinned vegetarian meals are also required. In addition we are requesting packets of female sanitary pads/tampons, along with washing powder tablets/pods and small bottles of washing up liquid.

Donations can be delivered to us at Purley United Reformed Church, next to Purley Hospital, on Monday, Wednesday and Saturday mornings between 9.00am – 12.00noon (NB: we will not be open on Monday 26th August). Or you can drop off donations at any of our local in-store and roadside collection points listed here.

Thanks to the continued generosity of the Food Hub’s supporters, we have been able to provide food for very nearly 360,000 meals for 40,000 people since we opened 11½ years ago in 2013.

So once more we say a HUGE, HEARTFELT THANK YOU TO YOU ALL. Not only do your donations provide vital emergency help to our own clients and their families, but they enable us to support the two local Food Stops at Old Lodge Lane Baptist Church, Purley, and St Francis Church, Monks Hill, Selsdon, where many of our clients go for any ongoing food support they need.
