Hot chocolate drink, longlife milk and jars of paste among items most needed in January.
Our stocks of everyday items have fallen to very low levels after we delivered food for close to 6,000 meals for Food Hub clients and their families during December – our most ever in a single month.
As a result, we are appealing in January for hot chocolate drink needing only water, cartons of longlife milk and non-dairy alternatives, jars of meat & fish paste, jars of honey and tinned tuna.
Packet & tinned potatoes and tinned sweetcorn are also on our most wanted list, along with jars of tomato-based pasta sauce, tinned tomatoes and tinned vegetarian meals. Completing January’s list are two non-food items: shampoo and washing powder tablets/capsules.
Donations can kindly be brought to us at Purley United Reformed Church (next to Purley Hospital) on Monday, Wednesday and Saturday mornings between 9.00am and 12.00noon.
Or, if it is easier, they can be taken to any of our local in-store and roadside collection points listed here.
Since we opened 11 years ago in January 2013, the donations given month in, month out by the Food Hub’s generous supporters have enabled us to provide food for more than 37,000 clients and family members – that’s 335,000 meals. We are truly grateful to everyone for every single tin, jar, packet and pound we receive.
