11,000 meals delivered in first quarter of 2021.

The number of meals delivered to Food Hub clients and their families reduced again in March to 2,889. Nevertheless it was still our second busiest March since we began in 2013, behind March last year when 5,067 meals (our highest-ever monthly total) were provided at the start of the first Covid-19 lockdown.

March 2021’s total takes to just over 11,000 the number of meals already delivered so far this year.

Part of the reduction is due to a number of our long-term clients successfully moving on to become more food independent – for example, going to Old Lodge Lane Baptist Church’s Food Stop where they can buy up to £20 of fresh food a week for £3.50.

Many are also getting help from our referring agencies to address the underlying issues which have forced them to seek our support.

This is how it should be, since we are an emergency food bank helping people in dire need for the short term. However, the need for our services unfortunately continues and is likely to do so for the foreseeable future.

We continue to be amazed and delighted by the generosity of our magnificent volunteers, donors and supporters for each and every donation of time, food and money that we receive. THANK YOU ALL!
