Double deliveries scheduled pre-Christmas, then brief pause before we re-open on the 30th.
After a run of quieter-than-usual sessions in the middle of the month, November ended with a very busy final Saturday and Wednesday when we provided food for 1,100 meals for 122 hard-hit clients and family members.
The month’s total of 3,400 meals took us past 42,000 meals provided in 2023 so far, with December – traditionally our busiest month – still to come.
With Christmas in mind we will be doing double deliveries to clients on Saturday 16th and Wednesday 20th December. Then after a brief pause deliveries resume on Saturday 30th, when we will again be open to receive donations at Purley United Reformed Church (next to Purley Hospital) from 9.00am to 12.00midday.
Thanks to the generosity of our supporters we were blessed with a bumper month for donations. We counted just under 10,000 items in November, 20 percent up on November 2022
With several large donations already pledged for December, we are well on course to receive more than 100,000 items in 2023. Thank you!
Most people who kindly bring us bags, boxes and trolleys loaded with food, toiletries, and household essentials have time to stop and sign our donations sheet and give their email address to receive our monthly newsletter.
Others are in too much of a hurry to sign, or simply prefer to stay anonymous. So this month we salute and gratefully acknowledge the generosity of those we call our Anonymous Friends.
Thank you one and all!
PS: Knowing that we are a Christian organisation, one client recently asked our delivery driver for prayer as he was going for a job interview. He later messaged: “Please give your driver my heartiest thanks – her prayers were answered: I did get that job and it was so kind of her to wish me well.”
