Upward trend continues in December as Christmas adds to pressure on families in crisis. to
The 3,980 meals delivered by the Food Hub in October were followed by a further 4,167 meals for 463 clients and family members in November, continuing the upward trend and taking us past 35,000 meals for the year so far.
It was our busiest ever November, with well over double the 1,980 meals provided in November 2021. That is why we continue to be so thankful for every single donation we receive from our super-generous supporters. In October and November we received more than 18,500 food and toiletry items, bring the total so far this year to more than 78,000.
In addition we have received many cash donations, and your amazing generosity means we can continue to support partner organisations including Purley and St Francis Food Stops, also seeing record numbers, where many of our clients move on to after receiving our initial four emergency food parcels.
The upward trend looks certain to continue in December as Christmas adds to the pressure on already hard-pressed families and individuals.
Our Christmas projects aim to help ease that pressure, and more than 170 single clients and families referred by the Food Hub’s Ticket Partners will receive Aldi supermarket gift cards to buy food for a Christmas meal thanks to the Come Dine with Jesus project run by our parent organisation, Purley & Kenley Churches Together.
In addition, toys for 185 children are being provided through the churches’ Toys for Joy scheme. A big thank you to everyone who has worked on and contributed to these projects.
