Pasta sauce, soup and sugar also running low as we look to build up winter supplies.
September is our prompt to start looking to rebuild our stocks of food and other essentials during the autumn lead-up to another traditionally busy Christmas and winter.
The items we need most this month are headed by cartons of long life whole milk, tins of corned beef, chicken and ham, and pasta sauce in cartons.
Boxes of packet soup and 500g bags of sugar are also on our list, along with tinned rice pudding and packet custard needing only hot water.
Three non-food items we especially need are baby wipes, washing powder tablets/pods and toilet rolls.
Click here to view the list in full. To have it sent with our monthly newsletter directly to your inbox at the beginning of each month, please email steve.purleyfoodhub@gmail.com.
Donations can be delivered to our base at Purley United Reformed Church in the town centre, next to Purley Hospital, between 9.00am – 11.30am on Wednesday, Saturday and Monday mornings.
On Wednesdays and Saturdays please drive or walk round to the open brown doors on the right-hand (Purley Hospital) side of the building. On Mondays proceed along the left side of the building to the open white doors at the far end.
Donations can also be dropped off at any of our in-store and roadside collection points listed here. In real difficulty, we may be able to arrange to collect your donations – please email purleyfoodhub@gmail.com or text 07546 635295.
As well as the Food Hub, your donations also help support the two local Food Stops – at Old Lodge Lane Baptist Church, Purley, and St Francis Church, Monks Hill, Selsdon – where our clients go to receive further help after their emergency food parcels from us.
We continue to be very grateful indeed to EVERYONE for your kind generosity. Each donated tin, jar, carton, bottle and pound that we receive goes to help someone living locally who is struggling to put enough food on the table for themselves and their family.
It means that since we started in 2013 we have been able to supply food for more than 48,000 people – equivalent to nearly 435,000 meals.
