Make a meal of it with tinned meat, vegetarian options and cartons of pasta sauce.

Once more in April, cartons of long life whole milk along with medium sized breakfast cereals (around 500g) are joint No.1 in the list of Top Ten priority items we especially need for our Purley Food Hub clients and their families.

Tinned meat meals – such as mince and chicken in sauce – and tinned vegetarian meals (for example, from the Princes plant based range) are also listed together with cartons of pasta sauce – cartons instead of jars because these are lighter for our clients to carry home. Tinned fruit and rice pudding complete the food items most needed at this time.

In addition we are requesting three non-food items this month: small bottles of washing up liquid, unisex deodorant and washing powder liquid pods.

Click here to view the list in full. To have it sent with our monthly newsletter directly to your inbox at the beginning of each month, please email steve.purleyfoodhub@gmail.com.

Donations can be brought to us at Purley United Reformed Church, next to Purley Hospital, between 9.00am – 12.00midday any Monday, Wednesday or Saturday morning.

  • On Mondays please come to the white doors at the end of the church building in front of you from Brighton Road.
  • On Wednesdays and Saturdays please come to the brown doors on the right-hand (hospital) side of the building.

Donations can also be dropped off at any of our in-store and roadside collection points listed here.

Or in case of real difficulty, we may be able to collect your donations – please email purleyfoodhub@gmail.com or text 07546 635295.

As well as supporting the Food Hub, your donations also help support the two local Food Stops – one at Old Lodge Lane Baptist Church, Purley, the other at St Francis Church, Monks Hill, Selsdon – where many of our clients move on to for further help after receiving their emergency food parcels from us.

We remain truly grateful for every tin, jar, packet, bottle and pound you donate – each one goes to support someone locally in crisis who is struggling to put food on the table for them and their family.

Since we opened in 2013 your continued generosity has helped us to provide food for nearly 425,000 meals for 47,000 people across Purley, Kenley, Coulsdon, Sanderstead and South Croydon.
