Warmest thanks for your inspirational winter support despite the icy cold and rain

Warmest thanks to all of our supporters who overcame January’s variable weather conditions to donate food, toiletries and household essentials for the benefit of our hard-pressed clients and their families.

Louise Willmer, our Stock Controller, says: “I would like to thank everyone who continued to kindly donate food to us in spite of the really wet and icy cold weather.

“Your determination and generosity are a real inspiration to our team of sorters and shelf-fillers who each Monday work so hard to ensure our shelves are replenished in time for the food parcels to be packed and delivered to clients on Wednesday and Saturday.”

In February, our 12 priority items for clients are headed by cartons of whole longlife milk (for the children), small 500g bags of sugar, jars of meat and fish paste, and tinned meat meals especially chicken and beef.

We are also in need of packet soup, jars of honey, small boxes/packs of 80 or 120 tea bags, packet custard needing only water, and tinned rice pudding.

Three non-food items especially required are tin openers, shampoo and toilet rolls.

We are pleased to receive donations each Monday, Wednesday and Saturday morning between 9.00am – 12.00noon at Purley United Reformed Church (next to Purley Hospital). They can also be taken to any of our local in-store and roadside collection points listed here.

In the 11 years since we opened in January 2013, our always-generous supporters have helped us to provide food for nearly 340,000 meals for over 37,000 clients and family members. On their behalf, we say a huge thank-you to everyone for each and every tin, packet, bottle and jar that we receive.
