Triathlon boy, eight, goes the extra mile to raise funds for Food Hub.

Our newest – and youngest – supporter is eight-year-old Shayan, a pupil at St David’s School, Purley. Inspired by footballer Marcus Rashford’s campaign to help schoolchildren going without enough to eat, he is raising money for the Food Hub by doing his own Olympic-style triathlon.

Over his Easter school holiday Shayan has pledged to undertake an ambitious and gruelling programme of swimming, cycling and distance running.

He said: “While watching the Marcus Rashford TV documentary about children going hungry, I was inspired by him and I wanted to do something to help those who don’t have enough to eat. Talking to my mum and dad about the Tokyo Summer Olympics made me think of doing a triathlon.

“Over 10 days I will swim 1500m, cycle 40km and run 10km. The money raised will go to Purley Food Hub as they do an amazing job feeding the community. Please donate as much as you can. It will make a big difference to people’s lives.”

Thank you so much, Shayan. Welcome to the team!
