Unavoidable disruption to service while building repairs are carried out at Purley URC.
We are sorry to announce that due to circumstances beyond our control Purley Food Hub will be temporarily CLOSED for three weeks from Monday 18th August to Saturday 6th September.
Our clients, supporters, volunteers and the ticket partners who refer clients to us will all be affected.
The closure is required to enable essential repair work to be made inside Purley United Reformed Church, a Grade II listed building, where the Food Hub operates. It means we will be unable to provide food for clients on Wednesdays 20th August, 27th August & 3rd September, and Saturdays 23rd August, 30th August & 6th September.
We sincerely apologise for this disruption to our service. We have looked at other options to keep the service running but none has proved possible.
Current clients who are expecting deliveries during the closure will receive increased food parcels in their scheduled deliveries on 13th and 16th August. Those needing support in the following weeks are advised to visit their local Food Stop in Purley or Monks Hill, Selsdon or the Purley Masjid Food Bank in Brighton Road, Purley. Full details of these are given below.
We will be open to receive donations as usual on Mondays 18th August and 1st September – please come to the open white doors 50 yards past the church’s main foyer entrance. Otherwise, we would ask that you kindly hold on to your donations until we are open as normal again from the week beginning 8th September (Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays from 9.00am to 12.00midday).
Volunteer rotas are also subject to disruption until our expected next operating session on Wednesday 10th September. Salli, our Administrator, is in regular contact with team leaders to keep them up to date with any developments.
Ticket partners are being asked not to refer any new clients to us after 14th August. We will be in touch with them again to confirm when referrals can be resumed in September.
WE THANK EVERYONE for your understanding and support during this difficult time.
Please be assured that the closure is as a very last resort, and if there is any delay in the start or finish dates we will let people know straight away.
If you require further information, please send a text to Salli on 07546 635295 or email purleyfoodhub@gmail.com
