April donations bring cheer as fruit squash and meat meals head May’s ‘most needed’ list.

Big thanks to everyone who so generously answered our appeal in April for tin openers for first-time Food Hub clients.

At the start of the month we had no tin openers at all in stock – then during April we received a total of 95, all high quality!

And, unbidden, we received donations totalling more than 500 Easter eggs, which we were delighted to share with our two local Food Stop partners at Old Lodge Lane Baptist Church, Purley, and St Francis Church, Monks Hill, Selsdon. Each egg helped put a welcome smile on the face of a client or family member currently going through a hard time.

In May, please consider donating any of our 12 priority items, headed by small bottles of fruit squash, non spicy meat meals and 500g packets of pasta and long grain rice.

Cartons of long life full fat milk are also on the month’s most-wanted list, along with small packets of sugar, jars of peanut butter and meat & fish paste, packets of custard needing only water and tinned rice pudding.

Non-food items we particularly need are packets/boxes of sanitary pads, small bottles of shampoo and bars of soap. May’s list is completed by laundry washing capsules. Click here to view the list in full.

If you would like to have the list and our monthly newsletter sent directly to your inbox at the beginning of each month, please email steve.purleyfoodhub@gmail.com.

We are open to receive donations at Purley United Reformed Church (next to Purley Hospital) from 9.00am – 12.00noon on Wednesday, Saturday and Monday mornings (except on May’s two Bank Holiday Mondays on the 5th and 26th).

Or if it’s more convenient, you can take donations to any of our local in-store and roadside collection points listed here.

On behalf of our clients, we are very grateful indeed for everyone’s continuing generous support. In total since 2013, you have enabled us to provide food for more than 43,000 people – equivalent to 390,000 meals.

THANK YOU SO MUCH!
