‘No one should have to turn to charity to feed themselves and their families’
The deadline for final signatures for a letter to new Prime Minister Liz Truss calling for urgent action to end the need for food banks has been extended to 13th October.
IFAN, the Independent Food Aid Network (to which the Food Hub is affiliated) is planning to deliver the letter alongside the Trussell Trust and Feeding Britain around 15th October.
The letter states: “Every day we meet people who are skipping meals so they can feed their children and turning off their cooker or fridge so they can cover other essential costs … No one should have to turn to charity to feed themselves and their families.”
And it calls on the Prime Minister to act urgently to ensure “everyone has enough income, from work and social security, to buy the essentials.”
